Osnovnoškolcima pokazujemo važnost financijske pismenosti

World and European Money Week is celebrated from March 20 to 26, 2023. It is a global event to raise awareness of the importance of financial education for children and young people.

In Croatia, there is a noticeable lack of mandatory financial education through the education system, but in some cases also an insufficient level of financial literacy of parents, from whom children learn how to manage money. These are just some of the reasons why young people are an extremely vulnerable group when it comes to financial literacy.

Through the Erasmus + project 'Piggy Bank', we offer all citizens free access to educational materials on the topic of financial literacy. On the project's website, but also on Callidus' platform O2 you can find educational comics and quizzes for children and young people, as well as manuals for parents and teachers.

Motivated by this issue, today we held an educational workshop on this topic with the students of Stjepan Benceković Primary School from Rakov potok. Today, we introduced students to basic financial terms and tools, such as the importance of budgeting, the functions of financial institutions, different currencies, etc., while using materials developed as part of the 'Piggy Bank' project
