New Erasmus+ project: Zero Waste power in HoReCa
"Zero Waste" is a global movement aimed at finding optimal solutions to current issues of environmental pollution and reuse of used materials.

We are living in a time when young people are becoming more and more aware that their quality of life is threatened in the future due to climate change, so the need for changes in the business field is becoming increasingly evident. This project is a direct response to that need, and with that, through a series of activities, it connects "Zero Waste" topics with vocational education and the business sector in the hospitality industry with the clear goal of changes in the process of education and business in the way of selecting work models that are sustainable and less harmful to Environment. Three vocational catering schools, two institutions for adult education and two private sector organizations from Croatia, Spain, Ireland, Slovenia and Italy are included in the project.
Target group:
- students and teachers of VET catering schools - the tools will provide participants with basic content for organizing professional kitchens and catering establishments with the main goal of reducing waste, protecting the environment and raising the "Zero Waste" standard in the HoReCa sector
- hotels and catering facilities - a digital tool will be developed to assess zero-waste standards for hotel managers and executives
Activities:
Through the implementation of the project, tools will be created for the implementation of new learning and business models in the work process:
- Development of a curriculum for the implementation of specific waste management procedures in the HoReCa sector
- The curriculum will contain educational contents and concrete guidelines on the organization of work in the hospitality facility with the aim of protecting the environment based on the establishment of the "Zero waste" standard.
- Design of curriculum-based digital learning tools
- the goal is to support learning through individual ways of acquiring knowledge and using ICT tools
