We are creating a new and higher quality occupational standard for the tourism and hospitality labor market
This four-year program will enable the students of the Dubrovnik Tourism and Hospitality School to acquire a higher level of education and continue their education

For a long time in Croatia, it is no longer necessary to emphasize the importance of tourism, nor the unsustainability of basing the tourist offer on the "sun and sea" model. Tourism has long been one of the most important economic branches, and a high level of service quality is crucial for a quality tourist offer. In the last few years, leading hotel chains have been investing considerable resources in raising the quality of their services. These investments do not only refer to the construction and expansion of new accommodation facilities, but also include additional investment in the development of quality human resources in tourism.
Within the project "Establishment of the Dubrovnik Regional Center of Competence in Tourism and Hospitality"The Dubrovnik Tourism and Hospitality School has submitted to the Ministry of Labour, Pension System, Family and Social Policy a request for entry of professional standards in the HKO register (Croatian Qualification Framework). Based on this professional standard, the qualification standard and educational program will be created.
It is a program that will provide students with the acquisition of culinary and gastronomic knowledge with an emphasis on organizational skills as well as communication and presentation skills. This four-year program will enable students to acquire a higher level of education as well as a smooth continuation of their education. The goal of the project is to profile the Dubrovnik Center as a center of excellence that will generate the best and highest quality human potential in the tourism and catering segment of gastronomy.
Since we are working on the first such education program in Croatia, with teachers Tourism and catering school Dubrovnik a team of experts from the economy made up of representatives is also involved Valamar Riviera, Adriatic Luxury Hotels, Grand Hotel Imperial, and Hotel Dubrovnik Riviera who are also project partners. The training and mentoring of the team of the Dubrovnik Regional Center of Competence in Tourism and Hospitality was carried out by the partner Callidus – Institution for adult education, the only institution for adult education that successfully entered the occupational standard in the HKO Register. When the process is finalized, the curriculum will be able to be used by schools in the tourism and hospitality sector throughout Croatia.
From the Dubrovnik Regional Center of Competence, they point out that they have assembled an excellent group of collaborators with whom they want to offer a modern, competitive education program, and the collaboration with Basque Culinary Center who is a technical partner on the project.
It is certain that along with the development of a new profession, the exchange of knowledge and experience with one of the best culinary centers will significantly contribute to the Regional Center of Competence Dubrovnik in achieving its real status as a place of excellence.
