To work in drugstores, it is no longer enough to only have work experience as a salesperson, but employers are also looking for new competencies. Recognizing the needs of the market, the new Callidus educational program from the project "Strengthening competences for employment in drugstores" is aimed at setting a new standard for the drugstore profession in Croatia. The educational program is intended for potential employees of drugstores, health food and natural cosmetics stores. The value of the project is HRK 1,051 million, and it was co-financed by the European Social Fund in the amount of 95 percent.

The participants of the program got acquainted with the details and specifics of the drugstore assortment, basic business processes and the basics of marketing and business communication, and the practical part of the class took place in dm stores with the mentoring support of sixteen dm employees, where they got to know first-hand the daily duties of employees in the drugstore.

"For the needs of the domestic drugstore chain, we created a program that trains participants in the areas of drugstore assortment, communication and sales skills," said Carmen Tariba, director of Callidus.
The first 50 participants have already successfully completed the program which was conducted under the expert guidance of trained mentors in the drugstore. "In the program, I learned everything a druggist needs to know; about purchasing, receiving goods, presenting products on the shelves and how to be kind to customers," she concluded Željka Valentić, a satisfied participant of the program who acquired new knowledge and skills through this program.

The new qualifications give each participant an advantage when hiring in drugstores, and the new occupational standard has been adapted and offered to the wider Croatian market, which ensures the sustainability of the project.
