Association PET PLUS in partnership with the association Institute of Pula and Callidus- the institution for adult education implements the European project WITHTART POINT. With a multidisciplinary approach and a wide network of services and activities, it eliminates the recognized difficulties faced by perpetrators of criminal offenses after serving a prison sentence. They are exposed to social exclusion, often have nowhere to return to after prison and relapse. The backbone of the project is to provide them with a safe, open place (Halfway House) from which they can more easily join the social community.

One of the planned project activities was a study trip to Vienna. Which took place in the period from December 2 to 4, 2019.

The goal of the trip was to strengthen the capacity of the professional team, which includes employees of two civil society organizations and an institution for adult education through insight into work with perpetrators of criminal offenses (JUSTIZANSTALT EISENSTADT), development of ideas and acquisition of knowledge for solving the problem of post-penal acceptance and empowerment of convicts as well as experts for working with convicts BFI Burgenland in Oberwart.

BFI Burgenland"at Oberwart, he gave us an insight into the educational programs they offer and implement for groups in a disadvantaged position, they shared with us their experiences on the integration of offenders into the labor market after serving their prison sentence, and examples of good practice. The visit was of special importance

JUSTIZANSTALT EISENSTADT where we had an organized tour of the penitentiary. Through his presentation and direct communication, the deputy director of the penitentiary in Eisenstadt enabled us to get to know the Austrian prison system, insight into standards, rules, statistical data, the program of rehabilitation and resocialization of offenders and their preparation for reintegration into the social community, the structure of the Eisenstadt penitentiary and funding models .

We will certainly be able to apply the newly acquired knowledge and skills not only on the project START POINT but also in further professional work.
